Description

Gorilla Trekking Congo tour allows you to visit three operational gorilla countries of the world ( Rwanda – Parc National des Volcans (PNV), Uganda – Bwindi and Mgahinga; and Congo – Virunga National Park-PNV). You will be able to North of Kigali to Kinigi through Ruhengeri and see the rolling hills of Rwanda, track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans, Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Virunga National Park in Congo.

  • Day 1: Arrive for gorilla trekking congo at Kanombe (Kigali) airport.
  • Day 2: Track gorillas in Rwnda in Parc National des Volcans.
  • Day 3: Gorilla tracking, Track the golden monkeys or climb the awesome Visoke volcano, or Trek to Karisoke Research Centre which was set up by the famous primatologist Dian Fossey, or visit local communities.
  • Day 4: Track Gorillas in Nkuringo, Ishongi or Congo.
  • Day 5: Leave Kigali in Rwanda and continue to Rwanda passing the Katuna border.
  • Day 6: Visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi and depending on your flight schedule take a flight back home in the evening.

DAY 1:Gorilla trekking Arrival

Arrive at Kanombe (Kigali) airport. Meet and greet before transferring to Kigali City. Drive the three hours North of Kigali to Kinigi through Ruhengeri. Enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known. This journey will take approximately 3 hours. Diner and Overnight at Hotel La Palme/Virunga Hotel/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB).

DAY 2: To Gorillas Home Parc National des Volcans

This day, you will be transfered to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort. Diner and Overnight at Hotel La Palme/Virunga Hotel/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB).

DAY 3: Parc National des Volcans

While at Parc National des Volcans, you will have the option of going for gorilla tracking (on payment of US$500 gorilla permit supplement at time of booking), Track the golden monkeys or climb the awesome Visoke volcano, or Trek to Karisoke Research Centre which was set up by the famous primatologist Dian Fossey, or visit local communities. Diner and Overnight at Hotel La Palme/Virunga Hotel/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB). On return, you will transfer to Kisoro in Uganda taking you approximately 2 hours. Diner and overnight at Travellers Rest Hotel (FB).

DAY 5: Gorilla tracking in Uganda or in Congo

This day, you will track Gorillas in Nkuringo, Ishongi or Congo (on payment of US$500 gorilla permit supplement at time of booking, and visa fees) or you can take a guided nature walk in Gahinga or climb a volcano, visit the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores. Return for lunch in Kisoro and afternoon relaxation. Diner and overnight at Travellers Rest Hotel (FB).

DAY 6: Back to Rwanda

This day, you will leave for Kigali in Rwanda. Continue to Rwanda passing the Katuna border. Time permitting, you will go for a tour of the city as well as shopping. This journey will take approximate 6 hours. Diner and overnight at Hotel Chez Lando or Mille Collines Hotel (B-L-D).

DAY 7: City tour and out

This day, you will have a half day optimal Kigali City trip which includes a visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi, which takes a few hours. Transfer to the airport for your flight. Approximate driving time: 30mins.
